Fixation
Before the screws are placed in the metaphyseal area a control of the axis has to be performed. Using a straight wire that is visible under an intensifier, the mechanical axis can be determined. Correct reduction is achieved when the intensifier shows that the straight wire is running through the centers of the hip, knee and ankle. Thereafter the screws are inserted.
The screw configuration should always be determined based on the fracture type and bone quality.
In this case example the distal NCB Screws were inserted first. All screws in the diaphyseal region were inserted percutaneously.
