Approach
In this two part spiral fractures classified as OTA type 32 A1 the mini-open technique has been used as an alternative to the completely open approach. For this fracture an NCB Periprosthetic Distal Femur Plate has been chosen.
In the present case the fracture region is exposed in order to allow direct reposition and restoration of axis and rotation with forceps and a cerclage wire.
Thereafter the plate is inserted distally through a sufficiently long enough incision to expose.
