Positioning

Patient can be positioned in  the lateral or the supine position on a radiolucent table.  A support of the knee is helpfull, but the leg should always be allowed  to move freely.

Surgeons Tip
In some cases the supine position allows for a easy intra-operative control of the mechanical axis. By using straight wire that is visible under an intensifier, the mechanical axis can be determined. Correct reduction is achieved when the intensifier shows that the straight wire is running through the centers of the hip, knee and ankle.
