Infection

In some situations aseptic loosening can precede the periprosthetic-fracture. Therefore in patients with clinical signs of infection a microscopic analysis of intraarticular fluid for white cells and bacteria is recommended. The infection must be cleared before implanting a device as it is contraindicated for acute, local or systemic infections.
